Things you see when taking a "nature break"

After getting ready for bed in the early hours of this morning I needed to take a last minute "nature break". After lifting the seat I saw something black dart from behind the toilet to the back of a pack of toilet rolls. I must admit, I don't like big, hairy spiders. So with trepidation I moved the pack of toilet rolls a bit to get a better view of what the black thing was. To my relief, it was a frog.

By the time I finished doing what I had to do the frog had gone from the toilet to the bathroom and then the passage. I grabbed a torch and a small container to try to catch the frog but it got away and went into the lounge towards the closed front door. It got away from me again and went behind the snake enclosure. It must have gone underneath the snake enclosure because I couldn't see it. At that point I gave up and shut all the doors to isolate in the lounge, dining room, kitchen area.

When I got up this morning I found the frog near a wall of the lounge room. I grabbed a larger container and had no trouble getting the frog in the container. It's skin was very dry and it barely moved but it was alive. I gave it a squirt of water and got a response so I put more water in the container as well as a small rock for it to sit on. By the time I had a shower the frog had revived and was trying to get out of the container.

I took 11 pictures (3 are posted below) if it before releasing it. As I don't have a suitable wet area to release it I took it to a local pond located in an area called the Police Paddocks. When I went to release the frog, it didn't want to go. It climbed up the outside of the container, on to the lid, then on to the back of my hand. If I had a point and shoot camera with me, I would have got some excellent pictures of it.

Enough waffle from me. The actual size of the frog was about the size of a chocolate Freddo Frog.

Bless you Henry, for looking after this beautiful creature and releasing it in the wild.

Lovely shots.

Thanks Baz. The problem with letting it jump around my lounge over night is that my lounge smells like a frog to the point that I had to use Glen 20 to get rid of the smell.

One a side note, I went to check the mail box today for junk mail and found a dead yabby up the drive. I have no idea where it came from. I live some distance from open water.
