Micro Meteorites

My son Jack (13yrs) and I sifted through the debris that had collected in the sieve under our down pipe and we found 3 micro meteorites.
Just wee things, as you can see from the photos.
But the one on the right, when turned over, you can see how scorched it is.
We're both looking forward to the next down pour to see if we can find more!!

Very interesting

Hope you do find some more

Post piccies when you do

They look like stones or stony-irons. Have you tried them with a magnet, yet, to see if they're magnetic??

Hmmmm....interesting. Maybe I should setup something myself, maybe a supermagnet in a plastic bag, the downpipe and see what I get.

Wow! How do you know they're micro-meteorites? How do you find them in the first place?

oooh, we've had a lot of rain of late. I don't like your chances of finding any, but, then again, you could get lucky.
At least you know the roof is relatively clean. LOL

Split 'em open !!

You too, might find fossilised filamentous cyanobacteria, just like Richard Hoover!

Cheers
