scan --> .pdf

I have some really old magazines that I would like to scan and retain as .pdf documents.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the most efficient method of doing this?

should I scan to .tiff or .jpg and insert into a MSWord file then publish to .pdf?

or is there a better way?

many thanks

What do you mean by efficient??...

jpeg2ps image.jpg > image.ps
ps2pdf image.ps image.pdf

How does that grab you?
Google jpeg2ps and ps2pdf for more info and downloads.

Definetly COMPACT pdf - if colour is involved. What hardware resources do you ave available? How much do you need to scan? How much time have you got. I can suggest a different methods of archiving...
