How fast is your Internet?

Mine was pretty slow. On ADSL 2+ I was getting 1.30Mb/s down and 0.21Mb/s up ping 78ms

I've just converted to 100Gb Telstra Bigpond Ultimate which is a DOCSIS 3.0 based service and I'm getting around 40Mb/s down and 2.3Mb/s up ping 13ms

The only way to get it is on a bundle and you have to live in Melbourne.

Seriously if your DOCSIS 3.0 - why aren't you scoring double the download speed - I'd expect a score between 70 -100 if I shifted to DOCSIS 3.0?

.17Mbps upload

Really the results are a little misleading. I mean I have a 1.5mbps connection but really get 120~130kpbs download speed.

Annnd because I'm on a RIM with no other hope of alternates..the best I can get is 8Mbps with Helstra.

Bring on FTTN I say.

I don't know why it's so much slower than the theoretical maximum speed. All of the signal strength measurements are within specification. I guess it has something to do with the load on the cable in my area.
It's so much faster than what I had before, I'm not going to complain (yet).

Nope, we aren't in Melbourne and we have the exact same deal. Been on it for about 3 months now.

100GB Ultimate ASDL2+ for $88

I get different results on different speed test website and mirrors. Also different times of the day. So the results we are getting are very broad in test results.

It is from my little laptop netbook on wireless, with 2 other computers also currently net connected (one has my son playing an online game) so it isn't anywhere near accurate:

You have to live in Melbourne to get the 'Ultimate' speed package, which includes a DOCSIS 3.0 Cisco cable modem.
Elsewhere it's a slower service, but the same price and download limit.

Well I'm certainly not going to move to a smelly overcrowded city full of light pollution to get a faster internet

Especially when this one works fine

Strange it is only Melbourne and no other cities

Funny thing...1.5Mbps is not considered broadband OS. ADSL 1 spectrum was 8Mbps but Hellstra capped this to 1.5Mbps to wring out more $ from their spectrum plans. Damn shame the feds allowed this.

96 ADSL Ports on our RIM in our estate...hell I was the one campaigning Hellstra to upgrade the RIM to DSL enabled, 6 years ago. Finally they did ..but...there are around 400+ houses in our estate and the majority do not get ADSL because of this. Hellstra said this was because of the poor infrastructure for telecommunication in out area ..which they stated was the Estate design managers fault.

I tracked down and spoke to the "infrastructure design manager" for our estate and he said hellstra told them what to install for telecommunications. So go figure!

Sheee's who got me wound up....

OK Hellstra is also pushing wireless internet (they didn't want FTTN)...my neighbour is a Hellstra tech and has one of the Hellstra ruggedized wireless internet lappys for work (3.6Mbps I believe)... anyway his lappy download speeds are not that good. My 1.5Mbps is faster...just.

OK it has roaming..but hey..it's also prone to drop-outs like no tomorrow compared to wired internet.

Upload 2292kb/s download 124kb/s latency of 54ms

This is fast compared to some days been as low as 800kb/s.
I can't get adsl 2.

Can anyone with Telstra Ultimate wireless broadband let me know what speeds they are getting?

Just tried optus wifi mobile broadband and only got 152kb and returned it this morning. Supposed to achieve 500kb to 7.2mg/s. They're kidding. Anyway the Telstra device is meant to be up to 22mb/s but won't make the mistake and not try it as they don't have a 7 day cancellation policy unfortunately.

Slow I have opts micro I'm on my iPad 10 secs loading pages when it works well, up to 20 when it's not..will change to belated 3G when the month is out

I've had Bigpond Cable at home for the last 10 years, 30Mbps downloads. I'll miss this when I move

I recently got a Telstra Wireless Broadband (Elite) for a trip to Tasmania and I regularly got 250KB to 350KB even in remote areas. It's supposed to provide up to 7.2Mbps but I've yet to get anywhere near that.

Im on crusty satellite and on a good day we can get 256kbps but most of the time it is around 100 (both ways). Still it is a bit better than 25kbps we used to get on dial up!

I've been on Vivid Wireless for about a year.
Speeds were great when I first joined... ~10Mb/s (1.2MB/s) down and about 3Mb/s Up.
Things went bad after Vivid introduced their Unlimited plan and focused on their expansion to the eastern states.. they were waaay oversubscribed and speeds went down to 1Mb/s if I was lucky.

Things are better now and I get 6Mb/s when good and about 3Mb/s average.
It is expensive though.. $75/month unlimited, but the only option I have is Dial-up.
