Paddy, this one's for you, mate! An open letter.

Hi Paddy,

I've just come across one of the most extraordinary images of the LMC I've seen. And it's a sketch.

Scott Mellish has submitted one of the most amazing illustrations I have seen. A true testament to observation skills, experience and dedication. Understanding the degree of effort to produce such an image, Scott has pushed the limits of standing at the eyepiece. It is on par with Ken's (ballaratdragons) effort of the Tarantula Nebula.

To limit this notice to just you would be unjust to your own dedication to the charts you have produced of the LMC & the SMC.

Please take a little time have a look at this staggering work. Even use averted vision with it. It does work here too! Please see it as a source of inspiration, not intimidation. Truely something to admire.

Best of all, it was done using a 3" scope! Not his 22" monster dob. Beautiful, .

However it can never replace the actual visual splendor of this object.
Me thinks someone under estimates the quality of their work. What a masterpiece.
