because i won the ebay auction of the bintel bt 202 dob at the listed price -no other bidders-goddam $350.00- used 10 times approx.well i guess ill confess in a few days as to what i recieved -patiently waiting for a reply ,im in manly the 8 inch is in mosman-time will tell regards gel

It's pick-up only so just pay on pick-up. And if you don't like it, it comes with a 12 months warranty! It says so in the ad (that was cut-n-pasted from Bintel's website).

That is a great price for that scope BTW. Make sure you get the 3 eyepieces and the neutral density filter as per ad.

I was also going to bid when I saw it stopped at $350, instead I went out and bought a 10" from Andrews today. Conratulations and good luck, I think it will be ok, if not, you could get out of it due to misrepresentation. I doubt it comes with 12 months warranty, it's an obvious cut and paste mistake.

If an ad on EBay says, somrthing along the lines of "Good Working Condition", but is a used object from a private seller - where exactly do you stand ?

have you tried to ask ebay?
they know their own rules.
I have been dupped a couple of times on ebay and found them next to no help in resolving problems.
Go check the scope out and if it looks at all dodgy don't buy it and cop the negative feedback on the chin.

yippie,it arrived on sunday-alls well,all accessories plus a Telrad which is a great way to focus,i had to collimate a little but 9.30 last nite i squizzed around a bit in the night sky and it all seems to be ok ,the primarys a bit dirty but i reckon i got a bargin for $350.00 - oh yeh they thru in a laser collimator aswell

no idea and by the time id finished fiddling between 25/9mm and star hoping it was time for bed(im up at 4.45am) so maybe tonite ill take out the star chart and take note-alas im a newbie -regards

So you didn't get 3 eyepieces, 32mm 15mm + 9mm?
But you got a telrad!! That's a beauty! You got a great deal there.

Some of those targets are not so easy, Davo! Some are impossible even from under light polluted skies (i.e., galaxies and planetary).

Saturn & Jupiter are great targets though. The Orion Nebula is bright enough to cut through even fairly severe light pollution. Rigel's worth a shot too from Davo's list. Maybe you can catch the new Moon just after sunset tonight. You have about 45 minutes after sunset before the Moon follows. Just make sure it's AFTER sunset!! Never point the scope anywhere near the Sun!! (unless it's completely below the horizon)

If you want galaxies (apart from ours and the two neighbours LMC & SMC): NGC 253 and NGC 55 are the easiest. But even these need relatively dark skies, where they can be seen even just through your 8x50 finder.
