IC2948/Thackeray's Globules - 20 & 25 Feb

A combined effort from two knights work. I was hoping to have a lot more but flexure is getting the best of me atm.

1hr 30min over the two nights of 20 & 25 Feb
Meade 8" @f/10, SCVF-H9, Ha. 9/600sec

More data makes a big difference. My previous effort of 50 min.

wikilink

I have found this a very challenging image to process. It has such a wide range of contrast, even within the major globule itself, that getting detail without accentuating noise and then reducing noise without losing hard won detail quite a learning experience in curve manipulation.

Great shot, shows up really well. You have balanced it out pretty good I think.

Not bad for two Knights doing the work, but couldn't you have done it yourself?

Hi Paul

Some great results there – good work. So, was (Ron) Knight one of the two Knights?

I feel your frustration with flexure and I hope you manage to chase it down.

Cheers

Dennis

Paul, sorry to be a pain, but I still prefer the 1st image.

The contrast may not be as good, but there is definately something about it that makes me prefer it

Where you using a 'round table' on the 1st Knight?

I'm pretty happy with it Mike, for a Meade 8" Sct @ f/10. It still needing a bit of a collimation tweek (will we ever get some decent seeing here ) but can you feel that hot breathe down the back of your neck? Here comes the VC200

150% upsize from Meade and SX
