NGC2359: Thor's Helmet.

I have been very fortunate in the past week to manage 3 part nights of imaging. Some successes and some not so successes. This is one of the surprises. Only 32min (4X8min). I've set the background very dark to try to suppress most of the noise, but what surprised me was the level of detail available in the Neb at only half an hour.

NGC2359: 4X8min SXVF-H9, Meade 8" sct @f/10, AP900, autoguiding WO72FD & DMK21 & PhD. Processing DSS and Level, curves etc CS3.

Lovely capture for just 32min.
Can you post a less clipped version though? There's more to this pic than meets the eye atm.

Nice shot

More, lengthier subs and that should do the trick

Nice image Paul but it is time you graduated to some colour and give them a bit of a lift.

That SXVF-H9 is a great match for the 8 inch SCT. The AP900 seem to be working a treat. Great shot

Plenty of detail there Paul.
As Doug was saying, colour will make this image complete.

Colour is definitely on the way, once I can get some more clear skies. I'm not going to muck around quite yet with RGB, I want to try with a modded 20D first and use the SX shots as Lum.

Well done Paul
Thor's Helmet is a tough target, very faint.
You've done well to capture the detail in the bubble
well done

Looks great Paul. Showing a lot more detail than the last time I was at your place and managed 2 x 8 second shots after my extended set up time.
