Saturn 25th

SPX350 with 5xPowermate and Flea3.

Second clear night in a row and good seeing allowed a detailed processing of the storm as it is split in 2 streams. I have a red channel animation but file size is only 200kb and the gif is 450kb - not sure how to reduce file size without buying software?

An excellent image John, it looks like you were imaging at the same time as me about 18:00 Jan 24th UTC, the UTC date doesn't change until about 11 am local the next day, which can be confusing when imaging in the early morning. The storm is very well defined and you have Tethys close to the limb to the North West and Rhea to the South East.

Very well done.
Regards
Trevor

Thanks Matt et al I appreciate encouraging comments, I have been so lucky with the seeing and have improved the collimation of my scope which has to be so accurate at F30.

In this run of 5 days I have learned so much about this type of imaging. We never ever get a run of 5 days back in the UK, 3 at most once a year or once in 2 years.

Just hope the rain and clouds are gone for good like the JetStream?

John.

Wow, that storm is HUGE!

Looks like 2 moons in the image too, one to the top left of the disc and one below....any chance of identifying which ones they are, I am curious...

Fabulous work again John, I assume the SPX350 means a 350mm scope?

Cheers

Chris

Thanks Chris, yes the SPX has a 350mm primary at F4.5 made by OrionOptics in Crewe Cheshire where I come from. They make scopes to 1in10 wavefront 99.1 strehl but without good seeing it is of course useless.

Two moons are Tethys near limb and Rhea.

John.
