Saturn 22nd January 2011

I wasn't planning on getting up this morning to see Saturn, but I woke to our 1 yo puppy (who lives outside) barking quite insistently at something. Looking out the window I expected to see a cat sitting on the fence or something, but the dog was looking above the fence line.

There, above the roofline to the East was Venus shining brightly. The dog was barking at the planet! We have had cloud cover for so long, that this would have been the first time our dog has probably seen it.

After setling the dog, I thought I might set up the 12" Dobsonian and look at Saturn. Here is one of the images - the main storm must've been on the other side. Seeing was average.
