Good by.

That's it. I'm out. Enough P.C.

Mods, could you delete my account please.
Period.

You agreed to the terms and conditions when you signed up.

What's your beef?

Maybe he changed his mind about accepting them.

I know I have changed my mind when given enough evidence from time to time.

Personally, I don't agree that being politically correct is bad per se (see http://bluelinchpin.wordpress.com/20...l-correctness/), but a vibrant community is made up of lots of people pulling in their own direction, not neccessarily the same direction.

Maybe that's his beef...

No need to go away completely. Just back off for a few weeks.
You've been with us for so long now. Don't throw it all away.

I'd be narky if I had a post deleted that was directly related to the purpose of the site - stars, planets, time, space, telescopes - everything peripheral to astronomy is fair game and the moderators here are much more lenient than at cloudy nights for example.

We also need to remember that moderators are people too with feelings that can be hurt and a difficult job to do - they don't sit gleefully behind the computer looking for people to upset; we all need to give each other a break and take it easy.

Judging by his avatar, I'd guess he's getting the launch codes so he can head off to Mars. Somewhere "off the planet", at least.

Not sure about the "politically correct" dilemma in question, but it would be technically correct if this thread was entitled "Good bye", not "Good by".

Seriously though, hope whatever it is you have a change of heart and keep visiting.

Mike it is obvious that you are not happy, and you want to leave, why did you not just leave for a while and possibly come back at a later date rather than hit us with the initial post of "hey look at me I'm not happy here".

Maybe a private PM to one of the mods would have been simpler.

I think "Goodbye" might be more technically correct - actually

You right Leon, my bad.
In my defence I tried to quit, but I couldn't delete my account.
Frustrated and made this post. I should have pm the mod.
I'm not tried to get a "look at me" post, and certainly not want to be ridiculed. And yes, my avatar says it all, there is not much left for me here (Earth).

I sincerely apologise to everyone!

All the best!

(sorry about the spelling mistakes, spell-check working overtime, still not getting my accent)

Mick.

Hello Mick,

I think that everyone goes through periods when things are getting them down. It happens to me too. When it does, whatever the reason - projects not going well, work dramas, family issues, astronomy frustrations - I put it out of my mind and concentrate on the simple things that give me pleasure.

It really doesn't matter how much time or money I have invested in this hobby, I control it - it doesn't control me. Perhaps it is time to put astronomical things aside for a while and just enjoy the things in life that are positive. All the best, and perhaps it should not be "goodbye" but "see you later" - when you are good and ready. Paul.

Nice response Paul, my thoughts entirely. Hang in there Mick and enjoy life...there is more good than bad in this world. Cheers
