Bushranger Observatory

Just thought I would add some pics of my roll off roof obs. I hope you all enjoy and perhaps get an idea for your own obs. For a blow by blow look at the construction follow this link to MAS forum.

Cheers Shane

Thanks Ric, it still needs a couple of finishing touches; like a coat of paint on the outside, probably white to reflect the sun, and a more permanent power setup instead of running an extension lead from the shed; but it is basically done.

This is a repeat of the post I made on MAS.
Just another couple of pics. The only things needing doing now are a paint job on the outside, finishing touches to the carpet in the scope room and a more permanent power supply. Not sure when I will get around to painting the outside, if ever but if I do I will post that as a final pic to this thread.
Thanks to everyone for the comments and encouragement.
Cheers
Shane

Thanks Rob, just off the top of my head the cost was somewhere around a grand to build, not including time.

Very Nice Shane ..... Just 1 question....Being a '' TIN SHED " design, corrugated iron etc ... wouldn't it get rather hot and stuffy... particularly in the summer months .... and the effect on your scope in such high temp's inside the shed.
I think it's a great piece of work ...but temperature issues might concern me.

Good Job anyway.........

Hi Colin, the temps inside are a little high in the scope room but I cover the scope with a solar blanket which helps and allow plenty of time for cool down before use. The warm/cool room is insulated so its much more comfortable. I also intend to paint the outside white to aid in reflecting the sun.

Cheers Shane
