The Large Magellanic Cloud repro plus larger versions

The big brother of the Small Magellanic Cloud. A good target for this setup as I can fit almost all of it in within one shot.

I'd like to do a lens type long exposure of this one some day to catch the spherical shape of the whole galaxy.

FSQ106ED and .73X reducer, FLI Proline 16803, Tak NJP mount.

HaLRGB 75 70 30 30 30.

Good seeing and skies completely clear. Taken over 2 nights.

A hard one to process really, and I did at least 20 versions probably 25, before I was happy with this one. It is quite a bright object.

Truly spectacular Greg.

Your HaRGB - Is this in minutes of exposure for each?

Regards Heath

Thanks Heath.

Yes the number in the sequence refers to the filter and is in minutes.

I use 10 minute subexpsoures for my camera and 15 minutes for Ha usually. Ha needs a bit longer as its dimmer and the image is noisier.
20 minutes would be good too for Ha.

Pretty amazing wide field Greg!
Lots and lots of HII knots every where peppered with young blue stars... Man, it certainly is a galaxy in turmoil as is its little sister!!

Good stuff

I have repro'd the image a bit by blending in a TEC180 high resolution image of the Tarantula into the widerfield image so it gives that area of the image more detail.

I also have an alternate version which accentuates the dust and a bit of yellow in the central bar core area:

alternate version:

Original version:

http://upload.pbase.com/gregbradley/...31791848/large regular size

http://www.pbase.com/gregbradley/ima...44409/original 2000 x 2000 6mb

http://upload.pbase.com/image/131844409 4032 x 3968 21mb

Which do you prefer?

All of these have the TEC180 Tarantula blended in.

Greg.
