It's not just people that need to be saved from rising water.
The chookies were beloved pets who's owner couldn't leave them behind. They didn't stray at all, wanting to stay close to people.
All the dogs here were very well behaved. There were around 10 dogs all up.
Though at some centres, dog fights were a huge problem.

Was this at an evacuation centre?

There must be many animal victims of these floods - domestic animals, stock and native animals. For many the loss of a pet will be a bigger loss than the property damage. Very sad.

I hope things are as good as can be expected at Kilcoy.

I dread to think how many animals have been left behind to fend for themselves. Being an animal lover myself, I could not even begin to understand the feeling of loosing one of my pets in an even like this. I have a trust and love in my pets that's often more genuine than that given by my fellow kind. They rely and trust us to help them when they are in trouble. I am sure people are doing thier very best to help our animal friends as well as our fellow people.. These floods have been an awfull event and my heart goes out to all effected by them.

Here comes the display of the real Aussie spirit. Helping each other when things get really tough.

A good way to help our furry friends is to donate some bags of dog or cat food to the RSPCA. They will greatly appreciate it.

I think, in essence, my thoughts are with the animals more than the humans. So many people have a pet, and that pet can be dearer to some than their relatives, and indeed, can be some people's only friend.
The loss of animal life will well exceed the human toll, I feel, and will go largely unnoticed.

All in all a large tragedy.
