My first Solar wide-field shot with AR1140 and AR1141 in it

Hi All,

Getting th most from my DOB until surgery so had a DSO event with ASWA in Souther Districts. Had the best day for the location and I managed to get a single 3 shots off of the sun. This one was the best Image was processed a bit too.

I had a bit of problems the Sun was low in the sky and the DOB was nose heavy and so I had to hold it up with one hand while the other had to focus and press the shutter (Damn that was hard) I have a problem being in the sun so didn't have much opportunity to taken many shot (only 3 all together).

Now with a detailed shot like this I may try for some more in the future but get a bit more time to set things up to get better pictures.

Enjoy.

hi Malcolm. That sure is a mean looking star. Can imagine how difficult it was to image at low angle with a Dob - good effort.

No filtering use only a Seymour Glass solar filter - http://www.seymoursolar.com/product_...products_id=94
Bought it some time ago after purchasing it suffered my 3rd melanoma and decided to hold off for a bit.

Only tried 3 shot before I felt the sun burning it rays on me.

I thought I could not get the granulations but was surprised. It is out of focus a bit so I may expect more from it later. I am making a sun shield for my own protection and keeping the camera out of the sun as well.
