Severe flooding

Hoping all our IIS friends in the severely flooded areas are safe and well - areas like Dalby, Theodore, Chinchilla with the evacualtions.
More rain heading to already inundated Rocky and Bundaberg.
Terrible stuff indeed with so many houses under water!!
Take care, and our thoughts are with you all.

Well even though we are basically stranded (Moore park beach 20 kliks NW Bundaberg) I think it fortunate the township is built on sand. As soon as the sand reaches the saturation point we might be in trouble..

Good luck to all those that are affected.

Not sure David, but probable losses generators and some astro gear from what I am hearing. About half a dozen of the guys heading there tomorrow to see if they can get to the site but locals are saying looks like an inland sea.

Its on the other side of the range but once in a hundred years the Condamine
River floods real bad. From what locals told us from past down knowledge the observatories should have been ok. We knew the vans could be a problem should this happen. Apparently came up quicker than anyone ever imagined.

I heard tonight the water plant went under at Dalby, they are cut off and they have 2 days of drinking water left. Dalby is not that far away, I'm very surprised. Looks like the rain has stopped for a day or 2 though.

I had to add to this thread (although it could have been one of the other "flood/ rain" threads) as I've been thinking of all of you Queenslanders and the flooding which is just starting to make the news here in the USA.

While it is a terrible thing, I had to smile when I saw this morning's Financial Times Newspaper which showed a picture of two guys loading a boat with (as outlined in the picture caption) "Emergency supplies"...which when looked at in the picture were slabs of XXXX ...I thought it captured the Australia that I know and love...emergency supplies= beer!
