Smile The 2010 Geminids at Orion

Hi All,

I took several subs of the Orion Belt during the Geminids, then hunted for meteors in the subs and made this composite.

The total # of meteors is 10.
The total timespan is 20 minutes. (high rate!)

There is a 1 second interval between photos, that explains the gaps in the meteor trails, I guess it can be used to guestimate the speed of the meteors, the top left one was very fast and very bright.

Canon 5DII
70-200 lens at 200mm
Astrotrac mount
40x30'' exposures at 200mm, ISO1600
No darks, flats or offsets.

Taken at the Mercedes Observatory, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Ah yes, the link:

Gets quite busy around Orion, I was surprised to see so many Satellites on my frames also.
