bintels 12 incher

hi all


ive just posted an email to bintel re their 12 incher dob

and this was don whiteman's reply



"The 12" BT 302 Dobsonian will be back in stock around the end of February and will be under $1000-00.

It looks like they're coming down in price then, cause the ads in the mags in Nov/Dec still had the 12" listed at $1200 or $1300.

Very good price at $999.

BUT!!!

I wonder if the mirrors are still GS or have they picked up a batch of Synta (not as good).

if they are the bintel homebrand ones they are GS... might be plate glass instead of pyrex tho :?

Under $1000 for the GS 12 inch? That's strange - I was in the store in November and they told me the current special was only going on until Xmas, when they were going back up. That's an amazing price.

BK7 glass is fine with me.

It does'nt really get to minus 10 degrees or less here.

Minus 3 is about our worst and not that often, so BK7 is ok.

its gets to minus 3 here sometimes (rarely) but really, do you think I'd go out in that?!

I heard somewhere that orion were buying the 12 inch mirrors for their intelliscopes from GSO because Synta didnt make a 12 incher.
