A hyperthetical mount?
I know this is BAD but it is in the back of my mind to go a Takahashi FSQ 106 (maybe in a year) and I have an EQ6 Pro which I am very happy with.
Question If I were to think about upgrading my mount and wanted something for the future that would be like my long term mount what would be your thoughts. For deep sky objects. What are thoughts about which would be best in your opinion such as Paramount, Losmandy Titan, Astrophysics etc.

Just went through all this about a week or so ago for Houghy
http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=68108
My pick - AP900, I think there are a few still available in the current no wait run (maybe not) ask Astrophysics mate

Mark will this be permenent or portable? You wont need a big mount for a FSQ 106 so what other scopes are you considering?

'ar 'ar 'ar
At least mark can try them out tide by side now
though I was really tempted by that Paramount Lite. If its performance is anything like its big brother it could be a dream mount.

actually the plastic was proving a little too expensive - they are now using recycled noodles! Great to see that you got one Paul!

I put my mount hunt on hold - i got me a C11 woth hyperstar instead( And soon a qhy10) as it will fit on the G11 as is now and on the eq6 when travelling. Will look at the AP or titan mount next year - hoping the dollar will still be up

Also AP now use lead-based paint on their mounts, don't complain if your flats have gradients Paul.

if you have a bit of money set aside for it - why not buy some $US now as a hedge...?

My wife is sitting opposite as I secretly type this message. I don't think she would appreciate a new mount for her birthday. That sounds a bit rude.

good man Rick, good man!
Sooooo who's going to get theirs first???
Who are you dealing with? Alice, George or Christine??
With two of these babies within coee of each other we could try out hand at photonic interferomtery With the same precision mounts it should be a snap regardless of our imaging equipment.

Paul,
I hope they don't arrive simultaneously. It will probably rain frogs and salamanders for a month!
I have been talking to Daleen at AP.
I'd be happy to participate in a long base interferometry experiment. Perhaps we need to find another one in Perth
Cheers,
Rick.
