High quality Japanese 2" colour filters. Most useful for planetary observing, especially for teasing extra detail out of Jupiter and Saturn. I have five filters for sale:
- Hoya 81B
- Hoya 82A
- Hoya 85B
- Vivitar 81A
- Vivitar 81C
These are excellent quality multi-coated filters, far superior to most color filters you get from telescope shops in Australia (even from the good ones). The filters are double threaded (so you can combine them).
All filters are in as new condition, come with a durable hard case, original packaging and documentation (see photos).
$25 each or $100 for the lot.
Free postage within Australia. I also have a couple of never used filter organiser wallets that I do not need. I will include one of these for the first two buyers.
More info on use if you're interested:
The 82A is a light blue cooling filter, 81A-C are slightly different kinds of subtle warming filters. For stronger warming two or more 81's can be combined. These are all very pleasing high transmission filters and besides planetary observing they can be useful for correcting or altering (cool or warm) your telescope's and/or eyepieces' colour balance.
At several Star parties me and other observers also found that the combination of the 82A with one or more of the 81's makes for a very nice Moon filter.
The 85B is a stronger red/orange filter. Quite dramatic on the Sun behind a proper full-aperture solar filter on a large scope. (Some people will not believe they are looking at the sun if it's not red!)
As these are 2" filters your scope will need to have a 2" focuser. To use with 1.25" eyepieces, screw onto the bottom of the 2"-to-1.25" adapter. Just make sure you have enough room so the eyepiece barrel does not touch the glass. If not, then use a spacer ring or 2" barrel extension.
Any questions, just PM me and I'll do my best to get back to you ASAP.
