Orion 9/12
A very quick Orion.
Only 3x5 minutes, shot during the last sucker hole of Thursday night.
Canon 550D
Canon Nifty 50 @ iso 400 and F3.5
Darks taken, no flats.
Stacked in DSS and processed in CS3.
15 minutes......it's only a small taste and it's made me hungry for more.
I'm starved for data.

Hey, I have just come back from an allnighter and earlyier in the night I was showing a guest of the property owners this under dark skies, this shot would have been a useful image to show him so he could get the hunter bit

Love that image, jjj. Betelgeuse has always been my favourite star, and Orion my favourite constellation.
Looking forward for more images
Cheers, Luis.

Very cool. Enjoyed the soft colour rich stars emphasising the constellation. Well done JJJ.

Gorgeous image jjjjjjjjjj....
there's certainly something magical about widefields.
I also love it because it highlights nicely the canoe that northern Australian Aboriginal people see in this constellation rather than orion as warrior. The 3 stars of the "belt" are 3 brothers in the canoe and the nebula is the fish trailing on a line beside.
