Very nice subject Alan. I just get the feel the outer parts of the nebula seem a little soft and mottled looking.
Sorry Alan just something looks wrong.

Nice image Alan, I can see what Doug is talking about too. The centre is very crisp, but the outer regions soft. All the best.

Sorry Al but
NGC 2244 – The open cluster within the nebula (Discovered by
John Flamsteed in 1690)
not the designation of the nebula
Not bad by the way

Hey Al just get rid of the green background and it will look pretty good mate
, nice work.
The Rosette is a must do for me this season, I have only ever done a pretty basic
B&W Ha version and with just a 200mm lens to date way back in 2006

A little too green, dynamic range looks flat..stars saturated to white and a tad bloated.
Guiding spot on. I like the framing.
Stick with it

Appears better without the green. Had a quick fiddle - hope you don't mind.

Hi Alan,
I'm sure the data is there but the processing seems to be letting you down in making this a cracker image. IMHO the background should be black - the emptiness of deep space - and the Rosette - rose red. Do a google search and look at other renditions as a guide.

Very nice Rosette. You've got some pretty neat details in there. I'm still to get one that sharp. Well done.

Nice work, lots of detail there. Plenty of data. I had a fiddle with the latest pic, what do you think?

That latest repro is very nice Alan! A beautiful rose - you got some excellent data there with heaps of detail. There's still a tiny bit of green in the background levels though (Scott got rid of that).
Maybe just a matter of calibrating your screen? I got a dual monitor setup (identical monitors, but calibrated and connected differently) that has really helped me finding color problems. What looks black on the one can look distinctly red/green/blue on the other!

With the colour balance addressed Alan, you've come up with an impressive image. Enjoyed it.
