Smile God of War still Great! Mars 15th Jan

Hi All, following on from Asi's fine Mars last night, here's my effort, this time with the Mewlon 180 and 4x powermate (this gives around F48-50 so it's whole heap of image scale). Seeing was better than average, say 7/10 which is just as well otherwise wouldn't get away with this setup. I've attached two images both running 1/10th sec exposures but one at 5fps with less frames (793) stacked and one at 10fps (1441) stacked at right - the latter has more contrast probably cos with the greater number of frames I could "push" the wavelets higher without grain becoming a prob.

Detail is really quite good. Can even see Sinus Meridani here where the Mars rovers are crawling about (see the tracks ).

enjoy,

He-he! Nearly as good as mine Rob, nice effort anyway please come again soon..........

Get outa here!? Their awesome mate! Infinitely Better than mine. Top shelf stuff!!!! (Don't fall off that pedestal, ya here? )

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we seem to be both getting better detail now than when it was at opposition....At least I am....'the detail is in the seeing/transparency' I'm having more fun with mars now than I ever have!

Great stuff mate!!

Thanks Guys.

Asi, yeh I'm a bit surprised too at the detail that can be extracted now from Mars given it's area is now down to 1/5th of what it was at opposition. I'm thinking to some extent it must a bit like when you draw on a balloon and blow it up that the features get bigger but fainter - so in reverse as Mars shrinks the fine detail dissapears but the macro detail actual gets more contrasty and easier to see and image

Anyway, I'm very happy with these - anothery to add to the Mars death cycle image

cheers,

Tanks Rumples, BTW the 4x powermate seems to be a good match for the SCT and the Mewlon. 5x would be pushing it a bit too far as you've pointed out, but 4x seems pretty sweet for this planetary imaging game!

cheers,

Hmmm, maybe have to get a 4x, been busy of late and too exhausted to do any imaging. Besides the weather has only just broken in the last few days. Now it is 34 and roasting.
