A new camera, eh ? What' this about your old camera having a 'significant hardware failure' ? (Doesn't sound too good .. what happened ?)

Thanks guys. The St 8 from the original grant is a parallel interface camera. The imaging system failed back in September. After several days of intense effort, it turned out to be a series of issues but the camera itself was not the culprit. The parallel port on the observatory PC died and the latest camera driver istall from SBIG no longer installs parallel drivers by default..... One has to check an "LP" checkbox to get them to install on a second install run.

Long story short, the system is back and the ST 8 will be retasked to a spectrograph. It will be nice to have a camera where I can download an image in a couple of seconds instead of a minute....
