Would You???

Would mounting a 2 metre long 32lb refractor onto a Takahashi EM200 be a bad idea? The weight is within the mounts capacity but I wonder what effect a scopes length has.

I also have an NJP but it is a heavier mount so my immediate preference is towards the EM200.

For imaging it would most likely be no good (swing force called momentum arm means it would be hard for the mount to control even if within the weight limits). Also any wind and it would not work.

For visual probably ok.

I have used an NJP for 12.5 inch RCOS, Tak BRC250, Tak FS152, TEC180FL all successfully for imaging. The RCOS though was really too much for it although if no wind and well balanced it did OK. But really never perfectly round stars.

Greg.
