Meade Infinity 10 x 50 Binocular for Astronomy??

Hi there,

I just found a Meade Infinity 10 x 50 WA Binocular in my closet... I would like to know how good is it as a astronomy binocular and what do I expect to see with it??

Hi Allan,

it should do well. I have a 10x40 and get nice views of the pleiades cluster, the moon, faint constellation and jupiters moons.

If you already have it, just grab it, point it upwards and scan the night sky and tell us what you saw!

Do you think it is able help me find binary star around the south celestrial pole??

and is it strong enough for clusters and nebulae?

Hi Allan,

you can see a number of double stars and it is very helpful in finding the south celestial pole (SCP).
Sure you can see clusters and nebulae but only the brightest and without spectacular detail. Yours has 10mm more aperture compared to mine so you may be able to see more detail. But I think the best use for it are widefield views of the Milky Way and the constellations where you can check out objects to point your telescope to.

10x50 is a great size - can be handheld & easy to use.

i sugest you visit skymaps.com - click on the sth hemisphere for this month - there is a list of naked eye & bino targets for you to cut your teeth on
