iPod / iPad owners heads up - SkySafari on sale

Sky safari (sky voyager) is on special for the next 3 days for just $4.99 as a Mactech special. Buy it you won't regret it. Btw if you have both the iPhone and iPad, sky safari installs on both at no extra cost. Sky safari runs with the skyfi wireless adapter for full telescope control or the soon to be released sky wire serial adapter.

Comes up at $5.99 in my app store. It says $4.99 USD.

With the AUD > the US$, you'd think it'd be cheaper - not more expensive.

I've bought it anyway. Thanks for the heads-up.

SkySafari iPhone app for 1/3 price for today

I have not used this, so I'm hoping someone else will be able to give some more information.
In any case, for a few days SkySafari will be on sale for $5.99 instead of $17.99.

Just in case anyone was looking to get this.

Hi Jeff

Phil mentioned it here yesterday:

I'll merge the two threads.

It is a wonderful application.

Bought it for free as a promotion for the 40th anniversary of the Lunar landing. The PC version was 1 cent. Or, perhaps it was the other way around. I can't remember. Anyway, it's great to quickly find out what's in the sky. And, now, to be able control your mount, etc. Killer!

Maybe wait for "SkyWire" - about US$79 and coming soon. Being an iDevice 30-pin plug to RS-232 adapter, you'll need to be physically connected of course, rather than roaming around, but otherwise you have full control over your mounts goto functionality.

I have one on pre-order, even though I have a SkyFi as well.

Very interesting Chris, looks like a great alternative to EQ-mod especially for dark-sky sites, will save on having to lug the laptop around

I ordered a ski-fi yesterday, I think I'll wait and see what the serial wired adapter is like.

Just out of curiosity Allan, why are you still on v3.1? Most new apps are probably expecting iOS4 APIs by default, and your results are going to become a lot less predictable over time.

Because my Iphone was locked to AT&T and neither Apple or AT&T would unlock it so I had to jailbreak it to use in Australia. Hate Apple and Itunes but love the IPhone

You know you can jailbreak 4.1. I have it on my jailbroken iPhone. It's currently the latest until 4.2 comes out in a week or so.
