SBIG ST-10XE, CFW10 and Baader 7 Filter Set

With the market forces at work, I've dropped the price by $800 !!

For Aud$3,700 The camera is a self-guiding NABG ST-10XE with 2184 x 1472 x 6.8um pixel (3.2MP) main chip, internal ST237 guider, internal shutter and USB .

The USB transfer rate is around 9 seconds for a full frame. The camera has dual-stage thermo-electric cooling with fluid coolant ports for a liquid heat exchanger (not included) and an internal shutter limiting minimum exposures to around 0.1s.

I’ve used this camera enormously over the last 7 years and have loved it. It’s easily the most reliable and robust astronomy camera I’ve ever had the good fortune to use. The mainboard was replaced by SBIG only 2 years ago after an unfortunate *rain event*, so it still has a lot of life left in it.

Also included is the Particle Wave Technologies (PWT) replaceable desiccant system. If the chip starts to dew up, as it will every 12 months or so, open a new sealed desiccant sachet, take it out, pop the top off the PWT cylinder, replace the desiccant pack inside with the new one, then replace the cap. It is much easier than baking the original cartridge for hours and really is brilliant. More than ten years’ worth of desiccant is included.

The CFW10 has similarly been problem-free in the four years since installation. It does as intended without issue. You can’t ask for much more than that!

In the wheel are 7 x 1.25” Baader filters. These are IR-rejected Luminance, Red, Green, Blue, Hydrogen-alpha, S-II and O-III. As I accidently left it in the picture, I will throw in the Schuler photometric V filter!

The new price of the camera is hard to say. It’s scary to think that I paid around $14,000 for the camera alone when our exchange rate was far different to today. Essentially the ST-10 is still a current SBIG model, though the new ones have one major difference that is an external guide port, where a guide head can be plugged into the camera and treated as if it were the internal guider.

The Filter wheel and filters alone are worth around $2,000 new.
It’s a reluctant sale, but I’m am willing to part with it for the measly sum of
$3700 (includes delivery within Australia).

I will go halves in international shipping and any paypal payment fees if required. Direct bank transfers are preferred within Australia.

Please help keep the thread understandable by posting genuine enquiries only, or PM me.

Thanks!
