Registax Rotate button + processing questions
Hi all,
How on earth do you use the rotate feature on the Align tab in Registax?
I took 100 shots of Orion last night and they suffer from field de-rotation; the centre stars remain spot on, but everything else rotates.
Is there a way to eliminate this by using that Rotate button?
At what point is the button used? Is it the first thing to do? Or align first and then rotate? I have no idea! I've been pressing it first, choosing the two alignment points but then I'm not sure what to do? Do I press Limit or Align?
Another question -- I took:
20 x 15 sec. @ ISO-100;
20 x 15 sec. @ ISO-200;
20 x 15 sec. @ ISO-400;
20 x 15 sec. @ ISO-800;
20 x 15 sec. @ ISO-1600;
Should I use Registax on each of the ISO's individually, and then stack the final five images? Or throw all 100 images in the one directory and process them all in one go?
Apologies for all the questions, but I think I'll have an amazing image if these questions can be answered!
Regards,
Humayun

Hi H
I've had mixed success with the Rotate button in registax (mostly, not success). I found a much better program to use is called "Registar". Download it and play with it (free trial, but you can't save).. it's amazing at rotating and combining images. The best i've used.
You can always do a screenshot of the results (albeit, in a smaller size than the original) if you like what it does.. and then you can buy it I suppose, to be able to save the full size.

And so we try IRIS
Hi all,
I bit the bullet after trying hundreds of times and downloaded IRIS.
This software is... amazing.
Procedure:
File > Select Files...
I then dragged-and-dropped my JPG's (I know, I should have shot in RAW) for ISO-100. Then clicked Create this Sequence. What the software then does is converts your input images (in my case, JPG's) to IRIS' proprietory PIC format.
Then, it was a matter of entering the following:
RREGISTER MY_IN_FILES MY_OUT_FILES 30 12 (where 30 is a pixel representation and 12 is the number of images)
This command de-rotated the field.
Now, my issue is that I don't know how to use the rest of IRIS, and Registax doesn't open PIC files. Converting PIC back to FITS is as simple as using the PIC2FITS command. However, the caveat is that Registax thinks the files are black and white! Stacking them then leads to monochrome (green and white) images.
Help! Help! Has anyone had any success with Registax's rotate command?
Regards,
Humayun

you can "add a sequence" you created with the registering and then use median option and you get a "stack"
it is very similiar to registax stack.
