Well I thought I had finally cracked a good night on Saturday night but alas it was not to be. The raw data looked very good but as often as can happen tired eyes see better seeing that is in reality. The seeing was not quite there to get great images and I think I in fact missed the better part of the seeing as each image got progressively worse.

While the red and green channels were good the blue channel on each of the images below was well below par. I probably rate the seeing about 6.5-7 out of 10. Several of my green channels looked very sharp but often the red channel would not be quite right or the blue channel just killed the image. Of the 65gig of data taken these were the best. Not my best for the season but better than nothing. It might also be time to start looking seriously for a new camera. This one has taken over 900 movies and might be starting to wear out.

Good detail especially in the middle image of the 3 images, blue always seems to be the let down, but still a good set of images.

Nice work Paul, it's just so frustrating to be so close to some good seeing, but there is still a lot to like about these images, heaps of detail and that really natural look about them.

I have also found that over this last month the seeing seems to have been better earlier than I expected, often data captured at just over 50 degrees alt has been better than latter on at 61 degrees alt. last night my worst data set, which I didn't post, was at 61.5 degrees alt.

Good results Paul - it can be a little weird when the raw images look good on the screen and when you process they do not deliver. I still think your images are tops!

Yeah, agree with Matt, what is it when raw images look OK but do not process quite so well?

Ray and Matt, its all about the seeing. One is only as good as their last great image. Most of the top planetary imagers are hampered by seeing issues. Nothing more than that. We all have top of the line gear for capturing but the reality is that the seeing either makes or breaks you. I had a cracker of a year in 2008, last year was ok but this year has been terrible. Nothing changed from my perspective except for the seeing. Seeing is king.
