Thinking of Selling my Celestron DSC AAM
Hi All,
I was considering selling the AAM Unit plys cables minus encoders. Any idea waht this would be worth.
Basicaly its a Celestron Advanced Astromaster firmware version is 3.15, the RS232 port is there but non-functional as the chip is missing inside. I have discussed this with Gary from Wildcards and Rick from Tangent and they indicated that it was doubtful to get this going by simply adding the socket RS232 chip. However someone may wish to try this. The chip for this should be a DS275 8 pin plus socket. The PCB is market for this and you need a couple of 1uf caps as well.
However the unit works as is, all you need are a couple of encoders. High resolution ones are not recommended, its better to go for lower resoloution as this is an older unit and the sampling rate is likely to not work with higer resolution. I have two 2048 encoders that i may sell with the unit but the issue is that one has two pins missing at present. I belive these can be soldered on to make it work again.
So what do you guys think, whats the right price for unit and cable only plus manual. plus two 2048 enoders (one of which may need some minor soldering). Not keen to let it go but I am funding for an upgrade. I also have the mounting kit for my GS 10" dob that i am keeping, you can get this for about $100 from Gary at wildcards for you particular scope.
Regards
Netwolf.
