For Sale: ScopeTronix MaxView DSLR II

You should probably only consider purchasing this if you have an SCT or other scope with lots of back focus. I can't get it to reach focus with any of my eps in my TV101 (needs to be dragged out of the focuser by another inch).

Also despite the claims on Scopetronix's web site, it is not suitable for prime focus photography.

Make me an offer.

I can't afford near what you paid for it so I'm just wondering why you say it can't be used for prime focus.
Is it because it won't reach focus or is there another problem with it.

Tom, just out of curiosity, I use the Meade tele-extender that accepts narrow eyepieces but at the same time the extension tube increases the FL of the scope. Does the ScopeTronix MaxView DSLR II do the same thing? ie increase the FL, or does it just apply a magnification factor to the image?

Can't reach focus with it, and lots of internal reflections if the 1.25" adapter is removed. You might be surprised what offer I'll accept for this overpriced piece of crap.

I don't think I understand the question. It's an EP projection adapter, i.e. afocal, this increases the magnification.

Scopetronix have this to say about the included lens:

" We understand that lack of back focus can be a problem with some reflectors and refractors that have limited focus range so we include a removable MaxPower lens with every unit. The MaxPower lens also allows owners of all telescope types to perform telenegative projection or increase the image size during eyepiece projection. The body length of both MaxView DSLRs is highly adjustable so you can get just the image size you are looking for to fill the frame."

I couldn't reach focus even with it.

The tube on the meade one can be extended to make the tube longer, this give an effective increase in FL of the scope. NP though.

Ah I see, not possible with this one.

This is good as the extra FL makes a scope too slow

I might think on this one, I like doing a bit if positive eyepiece projection every now and then, especially when the moon is right. And keeping the native f ratio to the scope will make it useful for planetaries
