Went outside with all my gear last night, set up in the dusk, cooling fan blazing away, thinking, yep it'll rain for sure, just becasue I dragged all my gear out. Well it didnt, in fact the seeing was fantastic, very stable air, no jetstream to speak of, even when saturn was low I had three ring separation perfectly, all six stars in the trapezium were obvious and the various nebula's in the northern sky (ring, rosetta, orion etc.) were outstanding.......then the moon came up. Saturn continued to impress though as the neb's all vanished from sight. The banding on the planet was impressive as too was the angle of the rings at the moment with just a hint of planet on one side, very 3D looking. Poor old Mars is little more than patchy disk now, he shall return though. Dennis.
P.S. It's been 6 weeks since conditions let me have a decent session, thus my excitement.
Lucky you I was planning a grand sesh tonight but would you believe it, Cloudy . I guess the grand tour of Lepus, Columba and Caelum will have to wait.
