Tonights moon 16th Oct.

I was shooting the moon with a GSO 8" F4 newt. but there was too much field curvature for my liking - Sold it & bought an F5. A lot less curvature.

3 stacked. 400D DSLR.

Nice image John, well exposed! How you like the f5? I have the f6 version which produces awesome views of the moon, and no field curvature at all on DSO.

oops forgot to ask, is this full frame or cropped? How much of the frame did it fill...

G'day Andrew! Not my best moon image, but it's a start. I was a bit impatient & imaged it before it was dark. It's cropped. It filled about.....Actually, here's a full frame...saves wasting time explaining lol.

Yes, I like the F5. I think the F4 had better optics though.

Cheers.

Good to see you getting some Astro in John. Nice Moon, but I am sure you will get better, just looks a tad soft to me. No chance for any astro down here, with another dose of winter passing through. All the best.

Thanks Ken

Martin, thanks....Yeah I might have to mate The weather here has gone to the pack. The run of decent seeing is over for another year I think..

Thanks Lester. A combo of crook seeing, & nowhere near ambient = a soft look yes. Hopefully you'll get some decent seeing/weather soon.
