Eyepiece does not fit in focuser

I have a 10" Skywatcher dob with a crayford focuser. There is an adapter in it so I can use 1.25" barrel eyepieces.
I went to Snake Valley and asked about 30mm and larger eyepieces. Ken had some with a 2" barrel. I do not recall the brand.
When we removed the adapter, the 2" barrel would not fit into the focuser, its too big. Is this a Skywatcher thing?
I do not want to buy 2" eyepieces if they do not fit.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Yeah, the strange thing with Colin's scope is that it doesn't have a standard 2" focuser

The focuser barrel is actually about 2.25" I.D. instead of 2" I.D.
Where the 1.25" adaptor fits into this wierd focuser barrel is only about 10mm deep with a stopper lip, whereas normal 2" focusers don't have any stopper. They are 2" all the way through.

I've never seen a focuser like this one before, and it is stopping Colin from using 2" EP's.

there is a 2" adapter that comes with your scope you need to attach it to the crayford then put your 2" eyepieces into that.exactly the same as 1 1/4 ".if you've lost the addaptor you'll have to buy another

I have done a search and Can't find any 2" adaptors.

this is the bit that is required. For some reason the skywatcher focusers have slightly larger drawtubes and require an adapter to hold the 2" EPs. Then the 1.25" adapter fits in that - so 2 adapters.....go figure. I am getting a new moonlite soon, so will be rid of this hunk of metallic annoyance...

perversely, it is also the piece that stops people from getting focus with their DSLRs. The 2" adapter is simply too long. There are a few threads around about having this piece machined shorter, leaving just enough room for the thumbscrews.

Just hope my new 14" dob (when it arrives) has a better focuser.
No point not being able to use 2" eyepieces.

where did you get the 1.25" adapter in the picture you posted? I haven't seen one of those before.

It should have a 2" adapter Colin, if you sift thru the goodies that came with the scope, you should find it.
I had forgotton about mine too, and was unhappy that couldnt use a 2" EP, then found the adapter.

I bought the telescope through the Icetrade classifieds.
It only came with the 1.25" adapter. The previous owner may still the 2".
Not to worry, I'll just make sure my new scope has a better focuser.

Yep, had this problem on a scope a few years ago. It was cheaper for me to spin my own up on the lathe than buy one at the time. I eventually replaced the standard piece of junk that they call a focuser.

Do yourself a favour & replace it Colin.

I'll do a bit of research and get a good focuser when my 14" dob arrives.

Yeah...The laptop. They haven't sent it yet that I'm aware of. Hopefully early next week.
