Neq6 problem

Hi guys

My mount seems to be playing up at the moment. As far as I can tell the scope is as close to polar Alignment as can be, the location is set correctly time zone and time is set up right, then I go to one star alignment pick and obvious star like antares and the scope points about 45 degrees in another direction. I use the hand controller to get the scope pointing in the right direction and get this message.
"WARNING RA OFFSET > 45º"
"Pls. check time and location settings"
"Alignment failed."
I cant see whats going wrong.

Anyone know wouldnt mind the help.

Might not be the problem but also check that the Latitude is south, not north... and Longitude is East, not West....

On mine this was an indication of a fault in the electronics. If it is still under warranty (2 years) get it checked out, otherwise a bit expensive,

Thanks for you replies guys. I have to say silly me the date sounds like the obvious problem because it was telling me things where below the horizon when I could clearly see the where not.

If that doesnt work then Ill have to go down the path of warranty.

Thanks again.

Anyone elso have any suggestions feel free to through them at me.

Peter,

This is a bit of a long shot but you could check the motors are connected to the right terminals on the control board - when I received my EQ6 the RA motor was connected to the DEC terminals of the control board and the DEC was connected to the RA terminals.

On my mount the connections were identical so it is an easy mistake to make however the RA and DEC is labelled on the board so it is easy to check.

I had this problem with my HEQ5Pro, checked and double checked the times, dates and locations. Turned out it was as Mark suggest, should have been MM/DD/YYYY format instead of DD/MM/YYYY.

ddmmyy or mmddyy

Yeah Im pretty confident that this is the problem because I punch in the date mmddyy in Stellarium software and the aligment star was where the scope was pointing last night instead of where I was actually seeing it.
