viewing DVD's

Can anyone reccomend a device with which I can watch tutorial DVD's whilst
trying to apply the information to a programe (ie image processing) on a lap
top, I want something small, portable and cheap that is wholly separate from the
laptop, Gerald.

Looks like you need a portable DVD player ... quite a few models in the shops and cheaper now than a few years ago. Example:
