No Internet

The horn on the satellite dish at home is playing up, so I've been getting sporadic internet and email for the last couple of days.

The technicians should be out in the next day or so to replace it, I'm glad I took out the extra warranty as it's apparently nearly $400 to replace.

I say that with the exception of IIS and emails I really haven't missed it that much, there is plenty to do around the farm and the days have been too nice to be inside.

Cheers

Can you IMAGINE the carnage if for some reason the entire Internet went down completely? I know this is a technical improbability but still???

Banking systems would be offline, news, vital services, Itunes, Bookface, TooYube, Twatter, Dominos Pizza ordering....questionable adult entertainment......EVERYTHING would be unavailable to Billions of people....

Millions of kids around the world would have to stand on their pasty white ricketty legs, blink their eyes against the sunlight and do something active like....go to the park and play footy, or ride their bike to the shops, walk the dog etc etc.....

But, the worst of all......

No Ice In Space!!!!!

OH THE HUMANITY!!!!!!!!!

Cheers

lol I'd proberly go mental if the internet died. Besides not being able to compile observing reports, look up pr0n study material and go on IIS, I believe the interwebz-reliant world as we know it would grind to a halt. It's the oil of the technology world.

It's like the mobile phone....how the hell did we survive without it not more than a decade and a half ago!

lol, Chris. Gold.

I remember we used to joke about this when LiveJournal was the big rage. Imagine, if for just one day, LiveJournal went down. Millions and millions of emos/goths would slash their wrists.

This topic reminds me of the IT Crowd episode where Jen gives a talk on the Internet. lol.

No Internet? Everyone would have to go to the office. No working from offsite. The car parks would overflow. There aren't enough desks for everyone to be there at once.

I'm still internetting from work at the moment (but I didn't say that)

The technician is supposed to call me and arrange a time but as yet I haven't heard so much as a peep out of them. It might be time to start stirring the pot and see what they are up to.

Hey Chris, If kids have no internet they would have to revive the ancient art of billycart making but they would probably say they can't do it because they can't access the net to download the plans.

Yep, you are right Ric, BUT

They wouldnt know where the nearest steep hill is without access to Google Earth or Street view and they are too "tired" to walk around and find one in their own neighbourhood, so we would have to drive them around to look for one......

Cheers

Good one Chris, sadly there is probably a lot of truth in that.

And if the internet doesn't crash, after all that browsing on the WWW you may eventually end up here.....
