binoculars in america?

Hullo

Thinking of getting a pair of binoculars

A question:
is it cheaper to buy binoculars in America or Australia?

I know next to nothing about models.. so I was thinking of going to Bintel (glebe) to ask for advice, been there before, they are so helpful.
However my parents will be going to America soon, and said they could get a pair there. But I'm not sure I can trust them to make the right choice. what to do..

Does anyone know of any reputable shops in Baltimore or NY?

thanks!!

Adorama are in New York and although they are a camera store they also have a large range of astronomical equipment. See http://www.adorama.com/

Personally I would buy locally and Bintel are great to deal with.

Hi, like Daniel says, BHPhotovideo is a reputable dealer and have quite a good selection - quite an amazing place and almost a tourist attraction in its own right. There is a used section upstairs which is worth a look. Check them out on the web, including their used stuff.

There is also CameralandNY - which I have bought from on-line a few times and their prices are also excellent. Probably be best to work out what you want and then give your parents strict instructions.

Or... You could simply buy something here in Australia and have a local warranty and local service.
