I loved this car. I had models of it all over my room as a kid. The JPS P34 Tyrell six-wheeler was far more than a prototype, and was actually pretty good around the track.

Scheckter and Depailler came first and second in the 1976 Swedish Grand Prix in the thing. The idea behind the six wheels was that the front wheels could be made smaller - 10 inches. This led to lower frontal drag and apparently it also resulted in higher downforce. This was all well and good, but the main problem was that the tyre manufacturers didn't want to develop the small tyre any further that they did - which was essentially just past prototype stage. This caused unreliability and eventually the heaver front end killed tyres too quickly.
