Question Orion Eyepieces.

Our local auction site has a set of four 1.25" Orion Plossl eyepieces, 25, 17, 10 & 7.5 listed for $125 NZ as a start bid. Part of a deceased estate from a Celestron C5. All in the original foam case and fully coated.

Anyone got any comments on Orion eyepieces before I decide to try a bid. Seems a useful set to have for the 4.5" at the price. And I can always move them on to buy 2" for the 10" scope.

EDIT: just noticed I passed 100 posts ...

They're a basic, decent plossl. Shorter focal length plossls have short eye relief. Given that you have "A bunch of eyepieces & stuff" you're probably better off putting dollars toward a single higher quality eyepiece at a magnification you frequently use, especially while exchange rates are more favourable.

I read it as 4 EPs for $125, but I agree, if you've already got a bunch of lower end EPs, don't waste money on more that you'll just want to get rid of later.

Yep, $125 for four EPs. It sold for that elsewhere.

I should really correct my signature where it says ' a bunch of eyepieces & stuff' because I've really only got the 12mm plossl, a 20mm GSO Wideview and the 2 x Barlow. Hardly a bunch but it's a good combination for my current scope. The 20mm and the Barlow get the most use. I'll have to get more serious with the 10" build because I want(need) to go 2" so keeping my eyes out for best buys where ever I can. Still trying to build the perfect Crayford as well but may end up buying one from local supplier at $159. I just like tinkering with stuff but I'm running out of time.
