Bad Jupiter

Hi all,

Well caught this Jupiter on 3 Jan. Seeing was at 3 or 2/10. Pretty aweful conditions. Still managed to eek out some detail. I am hoping for better conditions tonight and maybe get something worthwhile. No where near my best, but a start for the season.

Not a bad start though just the same. I can remember not too long ago when we would all be happy with that, Now?
So the Jetstream has been with you as well, hell even on the ground here it is piping. It can't last forever, well I keep telling myself that anyway.

Paul, not bad at all, there's a lot of detail there just a little smeared by the seeing. If you get an 8/10 or better it should be a cracker

I've yet to drag my carcass out of bed for Jupiter - eastern horizon is pretty cruddy here so might be another month for me before it's worth it.

Looks fine Paul, but I know you and you wont be satisfied until you are barking at the heels of Bird. Our problem mate is we are in a seeing hole I believe, for god sake hurry up and get that damn house built on the peninsular. Should be fun, weather permitting, to see what we can eek out over in Victoria in March. I think we are the only SA contingent at this stage. Cmon guys, lift your game, (croweaters that is).

Apart from the seeing and the planet's position above the horizon, you must surely still be coming to terms with the new scope, don't you think?

It'll take a little while before you're working it at top speed?

Looks good to me considering all the factors and weighing up everything against getting good pictures of Jupiter at the moment.
