My laptop is doing crazy stuff

I didn't download anything to cause this, so I don't know why it has started.

A few days ago I noticed a large Highlighter Pen logo up top in my browser.
I have no idea how it got there.
Then I noticed there are a lot of words underlined with a yellow line on everything I open!
Even in these posts.

Whenever I accidentally mouse over a word that is underlined a giant Wikipedia window opens with information about the underlined word

Also, since yesterday it takes up to 30 seconds for my lappy to do anything. Whatever I click on takes up to 30 seconds to do.

Today I have had enough of this annoying crap so I googled 'Remove Wikipedia Highlighter' but could not find anything about it.

After shutting the search page I notice that the Highlighter logo has dissappeared but it still opens a wiki window on the underlined words!

Then I noticed my whole browser looks diferent

The normal Firefox highlighter logo has also vanished, and the Google Search text box is gone too.
No, I didn't close them, I checked.

The only thing I have done different today is run AVG virus check and it came out clear.

Anyone able to help me please.

Ken,

If you right-click up the top near the menu bar or tab bar, it'll come up with a little menu which shows your add-ons.

What have you got in there?

Also, go to Tools > Add-on and ensure there's nothing dodgy in there. If ithere is, disable it.

I did as you suggested.

Pic 1: I don't know what I am supposed to be looking for but here it is.

Pic 2. clicked on Tools. Ahhhhh, the nuisance culprit! I have clicked on it to 'Disable' then 'Uninstall'.

I will now restart and see how it goes.

I've gone through this procedure before. With my dad, too, not so long ago.

Firefox is typically easy to fix. : )
