Hello Everyone,

Been a little while since I uploaded a photo. I must admit the weather hasn't been to kind. I finally took this photo last week and I think I am happy with the results. As usual please offer constructive criticism.

The photo was taken with my 8" newt F/4
Pentax DLSR K-x plus coma corrector.
2 minute subs x 6 and a master dark.
Unguided using eq6pro.

Very, very nice!

What ISO did you shoot with? I believe the K-x has a click-on, click-off ir remote setting. Is this correct?

Hi Mario and Alan,

Yes the Pentax has a infrared remote controll and you do have the option for shutter open press again for shutter close.
The iso was 800 and I am pleased with the results. I still need to work on the flat frames and more subs.
Alan I am new to astrophotography but with the right advice and equipment you will be amazed what you can achieve. I look forward to seeing some shots from you.

Paul,

I have a Pentax Km which only has the option of holding the ir remote button down the whole exposure time. It's a real pain in the thumb!!! See...

I've posted images with my latest being the Eagle Nebula. Alot of noise due to several reasons, no less the Brisbane night sky lights!!

So why is this in 'Beginners Astrophotography' section again?

Maybe a slight tightening of the stars (they're a tad elongated in the horizontal direction), but very nice otherwise!

Stunning for 12 minutes of exposure. Slightly out of shape stars, but given it's unguided it's not a problem. Color of the galaxy is good too.

I have only started astrophotography four months ago. I dont consider myself a good photographer at this point!

Have you seen the photos those guys produce in the deep space section!!!

Mine dont compare, I have a lot to learn Clive and as you can see more work needs to be done like the vignetting you can see, and the noise that is still evident. Your right the stars need to be tighter. I have just got photoshop and i have no idea how to really use it fully.

I think taking the photos is only half the job, the processing really makes or breaks the result.

You're selling yourself short. Go on post in the DSO section. Bit of bouncing in RA by the look of it but overall top work.
