My first light with my GSO 8" Dob

Finally, I have had my first light. Went straight for the money shot as it were, Saturn. She was beautiful. I have never seen anything like it.

I also have a look at a few other things but not 100% sure if it was them or not.

Yeah, I was looking in the LMC and saw something interesting. It was a cloudy looking thing, I assumed a nebula. So I had a look in my book and it said that the tarantula nebula is in the LMC, so I am guessing that is what I saw. Very cool indeed.

The tarantula nebula is one of my Favourites
It has so much structure & is a study on its own.
As is that whole region of the sky.
Sky & space Mag. has some great tours of the southern sky in its pages, check for back issues too.
Jul/Aug 2004 has a great galaxy tour of Virgo cluster galaxies.

It was so clear last night after all the wet weather. Did you get up early to have a look at Jupiter?

Saturn is where the money is! Especially these days with the rings wide. I need to get myself a planet camera before they go and close up again.

Was beautiful last night wasn't it Mick? Unfortunately I couldn't get out of bed... too tired. But the near full moon would have made things difficult anyway.

Gunna try again tonight. Hope it stays clear!
