The time has come for me to try my hand at narrow band imaging. I plan to start off using an HA filter. I image through a QHY9 with a 2" QHY filter wheel (came with a set of parfocal LRGB filters which seem to do a pretty good job).
I'd be interested to know what HA filter others have successfully used with the QHY filter wheel / camera?
I understand that QHYCCD sells an HA filter that's parfocal with their LRGB filters. Does anyone have experience with this HA filter?
Have not used the QHY versions but do use a parfocal set of astronomiks including the 12nm Ha filter. They are all mounted but fit without striking the casing and give good results.
I have a Baader 7nm Ha filter in my QHY filterwheel working nicely with the QHY9. Bit of effort to get it in there as the mounting ring is fairly light and higher than the QHY filters. No experience with the QHY (Orange Bright) filters.
QHYCCD forums worth checking out too for more info....
Thanks Rob & Mark.
I decided to go with the 7Nm Baader. I read lots of pretty good stuff on the web about them and there seems to be quite a few QHY'ers using them. I saw a number of posts saying that the astronomics were susceptible to reflection problems but it looks like this was mainly on the earlier models.
Anyway, time permitting, I'll try it out tonight.
Cheers

Good hunting Matt. Will be interested to hear how you go.
I've been so pleased I invested in one. Apart from being able to shoot during moon and from city lights, the extra faint detail (S/N) and contrast it brings out is very nice

Yes the earlier ones had a few problems but the type II filters are pretty dam good. The baaders are also a good choice Enjoy
