Rotten weather

Currently experiencing winds in excess of 70kmh with rain almost horizontal. One of the trees in the front yard may not survive(I hope), it blocks views to the south from here. Winds getting stronger.

Adrian

5 mins after I posted the wind died as quick as it started, and the tree survived

Same here Adrian, it has been lousy for months, but I suppose we do need the water.

Absolute pile of toss of a winter it has been. I can't remember the last time we had more sun than cloud It's been nothing but cloud, rain and biting cold flat out since May. My local park is impossible to use because it's muddy and waterlogged, and has been continuously for months Nope, don't need anymore rain here either, what we need is some bloody clear skies and sunshine to warm us up and dry out this cold damp mess.

I never thought it was possible, but this year is infinately worse than the inappropriately named IYA 2009

Atm though, skies are clear, but geez I'll swear on my life and everything I own that tonight will be write off.

The worst thing is, once this unlamented winter finally digs its grave, we've got the spring burnoffs to look forward to , and as we all know those are invariably conducted on the warmest, clearest days

As I predicted, it is now full Melbournecast yet again, and I wouldn't be surprised if we get rain ( ) later. If this parasitic flesh-eating infection of a climate was "normal" in the 80's and 90's as some say, I am super glad I wasn't old enough to "appreciate" it.

Must be very easy being a met guy here, all you'd have to do is say "clouds and rain tomorrow , max temp 12C" for the entire crappy half of the year!

It was clear for the last 8 (or 9?) nights in a row in Brisbane - first I've seen that happen all this year...

Went to Maidenwell/Kilcoy/Blackbutt area over the weekend. Overcast and drizzly in Roma beautiful clear in Maidenwell/Kilcoy/Blackbutt and I didn't have anything with me except my eyes. Wish we had skies like this for everyone.

Well we got back to Roma not a cloud in the sky too tired to do any astro. Got out of bed this morning and it was pouring rain and as been on/off all day. Just received my "new" Orion AutoGuider so maybe I am to blame for the weather this way.

I'd love to make fun of the Melbourne weather but as we here in Brisbane have had our wettest ever August with more than double our average rainfall I'll resist the temptation!!!

A lovely pic though and does bring back memories of visits to Melbourne....

Cheers,
Mario
