Crayford build

Ok, so I have decided to build my own Crayford as well for the 10" dob. I have a roughed out idea that allows focusser tubes from about 1.75" OD to about 2.75"OD to be accommodated with an adjustable frame assembly. Means I can build all sorts of focusser constructions from various alloy or steel tubes with varying wall thicknesses I can find at work or fit cameras etc easily. ( My wee lathe is going to be extremely busy! )

The question is how much travel is normal on a Crayford ? I intend to have several tube length options but don't want to have to remount eyepieces unneccessarily.

Is there a standard hole placement template for the mount plate? This whole assembly can be taken off the UTA and another version/commercial model fitted.

Thanks Chris, I was aiming for around that figure. I think I can get a bit more than that, about 65mm (2.5").
Just needed to confirm I was going in the right direction.
