10" Bintel dob

Hi all,

I have a six year old 10" Bintel (GSO) dob for sale.

Comes with a 1:1 2" focuser with 1.25" compression ring adaptor, 8X50mm straight through finder (has some paint scratched off during a hasty dismantel way-back-when - only cosmetic, optically fine), and four eyepieces- 25mm & 9mm plossls (standard) and ED 12.5mm & 4mm plossl, all 1.25". Two filters, moon and No. 21 orange, both 1.25". All eyepieces and OTAs have end caps. Original instruction manual.

Optically in good condition. Primary has some minor blemishes, but still very much useable. OTA kept in the box it came from when not in use.

Mount has altitude bearing tensioning springs.

Also included is some Baader Observatory solar filter film & instuctions on how to make your own safe solar viewing filter.

Asking $500.

Pick-up from Sydney, or frieght additional- mount can be dismantelled though will have to be packed separately.

Sorry about the blotchy pics.

Dob

Hi Alexander

While I can't buy today I am driving down the coast at some time next year for a holiday and I am planing to either repair my mirror or buy a complete dob so if you still have the dob in the mid or second half of next year I would like to come and talk about buying from you and meeting you of course.

No worries, supernova. If it doesn't go by next year, might well be yours, !

Either way, mate, I'd only be too happy to meet up with you when you're next in town. Just let me know, .

I've taken a picture of the primary mirror. The little blemishes can be seen in the shadow of the focuser, in the top-right quadrant of the primary. Difficult to take a picture as they are really faint. The secondary mirror is clean.

Managed to get my hands on my better camera for this shot- no blotches this time.

Price reduction

Time to shake the cage a little...

Price now $450.

I'm also very happy to show the ins & outs of using this scope during an evening.

If you are unfamiliar with a scope this size, you are most welcome to have a look through it first. I'll go through the 'collimation' process of fine tuning the optics alignment, and try the accessories I use on my other scopes to put this one through its paces.

Ok, I've had a few expressions of interest, including one from outside of IIS which I've directed to this thread.

There are no definates, so it is still open to all.

My offer to 'show the ropes' noted in my previous post still stands.
