Takahashi FS60CB

Well, it has happened again - I put a deposit on something and by the time it turns up, the extra cash I had put away dries up. One of these days I'll be able to keep two telescopes for more than 3 months <sigh>

Anyway, it is with some regret I put up my trusty Takahashi FS60CB. It has a small paint chip in the dewcover, but is otherwise in excellent condition with pristine optics. I could kid myself and think that I will get another, but we all know that is not going to happen - the dog will break a leg or the roof will fall off or something - so I will include the following:
  • Takahashi Camera rotator
  • Takahashi 7:1 Micro-edge focuser.
  • Takahashi Canon DSLR mount - this has the ring for the FS60 as well as the ring for all other Takahashi telescopes (for some reason the FS60 uses a m54 female thread instead of the m56 male used by other models). This was a bit scraped by an errant burr on a Mogg adapter I had, but I smoothed it with one of my wife's emery boards.
  • Takahashi 6x30 Finderscope (yes I had to buy another one - silly me for selling the one that came with it)
  • Third-party quick release mount for the finderscope from Peter Tan
  • Light box custom built by Peter (exfso)
  • Bahtinov mask custom made by Oz Stockman

It also has the original box, includes all suppied adapters and manual/certificate. No ring mount however - I used 125mm guide rings which I will be needing. I am looking for $1100 pickup or $1150 delivered.

Thanks for looking & photos later tonight or tomorrow.

I forgot to mention the Takahashi camera rotator is included - please see the amended ad. Also I have a spare canon cover for the camera mount that is included as well.

Photos attached. The paint chip is circled in red in the third picture.

Matt,

Would you consider splitting bits?

I'd be interested in the camera angle adjuster, finder release and DSLR adapter. : D

Sure, as long as someone wants the bare OTA first, that's no problem.

I have had a few PM's comparing this to the cost of the FS60CB Complete package available from Claude at AEC in SA. Claude's package consists of the OTA, the finder and bracket and the mount ring only.

Inclusions here that are not in the FS60CB Complete package are the rotator (~$260 replacement), the DSLR Camera adapter (~$80 replacement, not including the extra ring), The Micro Focuser (~$190 replacement) and the the Finder quick-release (~$55 replacement)

Including the Lightbox (which has an ID of 81mm - might suit a 200mm f2.8 Canon) and Bahtinov masks (and excluding the mount ring), brings my asking price to a little below 2/3 of replacement cost.

If anyone is interested in a split (Humayun and Logan would have first dibs on the last two items if still interested), below is what I would be asking:
  • OTA, with Finder and bracket as well as custom Lightbox & Bahtinov mask $800. This needs to sell before I sell the below.
  • Rotator, Camera mount (inc extra ring for other Tak OTAs) and Finder Quick release $250
  • Micro-Edge Focuser III $120
All of the above prices include delivery.

Matt,

The price is very, very fair and equitable.

Not sure why people would complain.
